The National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA) and the Southern Nevada Hispanic Employment Program (SNHEP) Youth Council are proud to present the 2nd Annual Customs, Classics, All Riding for Scholarships (CCARS) Car Show scholarship fundraiser to be held, Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 416 N. 7th St. in fabulous downtown Las Vegas (between Bonanza Road and Stewart Avenue). The show is open to the public with free admission and fun for the entire family, including live entertainment, and vendors of merchandise, food and beverages.

Please join me and Ward 1 Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian for opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. and to enjoy the show. I will present trophy awards to the winners at 5 p.m.

This scholarship fundraiser is especially important, due to our economic downturn, and will benefit local college students pursuing higher education. The area Youth Council will be collecting “community change” for education!  Visit their concession stand to deposit your change and help fill a five-gallon water bottle with community pocket change for education. This event is a partnership between me, the city of Las Vegas, Councilwoman Tarkanian, NV Energy, The Home Depot, Los Compadres Meat Market, NLPOA and SNHEP Youth Council. For more information or to register your car, please contact Marco Alvarado at (702) 205-0450, or go online to www.nlpoalv.org or www.snhep.org.
