Please join me at several upcoming events!
I will have my monthly Coffee with the Councilman on Thursday, July 7, at 9 a.m. at the Starbucks located at Washington and Rancho. This is a great opportunity for me to meet with all of you and hear your issues and concerns.
Please also join me for the annual Summer Splash at noon on Saturday, July 16, at the Doolittle Community Pool located at 1950 N. J Street. Enjoy summer safety tips, and cool summertime treats while supplies last. For more information, call 229-5443.
I also wanted to make you aware of a Senior Energy Assistance Expo being hosted by NV Energy on Saturday, Aug. 13. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Boulevard North. Nonprofit and government agencies will be available to help seniors pay your past due bill, discuss weatherization options for your home, provide energy education and conservation and rebate information. Additional information on social services such as food bank, housing, medical and rental assistance will be on hand.
Lastly, I want to encourage you to help support Lied Discovery Children’s Museum during Toyota's 100 Cars for Good Program. Lied is one of 500 finalists in the program, which will award vehicles to 100 nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public.
Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program showcases five nonprofit organizations each day for 100 days on Toyota’s Facebook page. Visitors to the page can vote once a day for the organization they feel is most deserving of a new Toyota vehicle. Lied Discovery Children’s Museum will be one of the five organizations highlighted for voting on Saturday, July 16.
Everyone is encouraged to support Lied Discovery Children’s Museum in its quest for a new Toyota Sienna. If the museum receives the most votes on July 16 and is awarded the vehicle, it will be used to expand the House Calls Outreach Program, which provides interactive health and science education in Southern Nevada classrooms.
Lied Discovery Children's Museum is located at 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North in downtown Las Vegas and features more than 100 interactive exhibits based on science, art and culture for children and families. For more information, go online or call (702) 382-3445.
