MLK Dream Fest Jan. 16
The Dream Fest is a celebration of Dr. King's legacy and everyone in the community is invited to come out and enjoy all the activities at the event. This is an opportunity for the community to come together to remember Dr. King and also to look to the future and what we can do to continue to improve the quality of life in historic, proud and progressive Ward 5.

I would like to invite you and your family to join me at the first annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Fest on Monday, Jan. 16, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Edmond Town Center, located at H Street and Owens Avenue.

The event will be a free community gathering that will include food and cultural vendors, car, truck and motorcycle shows, a chili cook-off and entertainment and activities for the entire family. 

The Dream Fest is a part of the annual King Week festivities that include a downtown parade, scholarship banquet, candlelight vigil, family resource fair, directions breakfast, education forum, and more.

King Week Family Resource Fair
Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway
11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Enjoy the Kids' Zone, children's activities, free hot dogs and beverages, a K-9 demonstration, free legal advice, entertainment, Clark County Fire Department's "Smokehouse," and more than 50 family resource agencies. The Southern Nevada Health District will provide free immunizations, flu shots, STD tests, and other health screenings. Hosted by County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani, the event is sponsored by The Nevada Black Caucus Foundation, Clark County's Department of Family Services and many community partners. Peace Week 2012 "Living the Dream" Young Choreographer's Showcase
West Las Vegas Library Theatre, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

Special guest choreographer Monica Armstrong of the Trinity Dance Academy will direct a tribute to celebrate the life, legacy and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This musical tribute also will honor and recognize the service of young adult leaders in the community whose contributions continue the legacy of Dr. King. Featuring traditional and urban contemporary gospel music, the event is free and appropriate for all ages.
