SCHOOL DISTRICT TOWN HALL MEETINGS
The public is invited to attend town hall meetings and provide input about the direction the Clark County School District (CCSD) is taking, the reforms that are under way and the superintendent selection process. The Board of School Trustees appointed Deputy Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky interim superintendent of schools following the resignation of Dwight D. Jones. The meetings, presented by the CCSD Board of School Trustees, will be held through May 13, 2013.

School Board President Carolyn Edwards said, "We are having these meetings so that we can gather public input on the direction the district is going and what the board should be looking for in our next superintendent."

A meeting on April 24 will be streamed live online by Vegas PBS at http://ccsd.net/, and an opportunity will be provided for viewers to submit input and questions.

Two meetings will be held in Ward 5:

  • Saturday, April 27, 9:30 a.m., at Kermit R. Booker Sr. Elementary School, 2277 N. Martin L. King Blvd.
  • Saturday, May 11, 9:30 a.m., at Western High School Theater, 4601 W. Bonanza Road.

The Board will meet May 20 to review community input and discuss possible next steps related to the superintendent selection process. Visit online at http://ccsd.net/ for more information.
