D STREET I-15 OFF-RAMP TO CLOSE NIGHTLY THROUGH JULY 12
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will close the D Street off-ramp from northbound I-15 through July 12. The ramp will close nightly at 7 p.m. and reopen daily at 6 a.m. The closure is necessary to begin the installation of temporary Intelligent Transportation Systems conduit to allow for the construction of the new northbound bridge, which is a part of the F Street underpass reopening project.
WARD 5 SUMMER SPLASH POOL PARTY JULY 13
I invite you to join me for the annual Ward 5 Summer Splash pool party Saturday, July 13, from noon to 4 p.m., at Doolittle Pool, located at 1950 N. J St. We will enjoy popular music by a local DJ and swimming in the pool. Popsicles will be offered while supplies last. Admission is free.
Bring the kids out for a fun afternoon playing in the pool with friends and neighbors. This is a family event we have hosted since 2007, and I look forward to it year after year. With obesity rates high in our country, this community swimming outing can provide some much-needed exercise that children lack. And because there already have been more than 20 incidents of children drowning in pools in Southern Nevada this year, I will join officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Bolden Area Command to give instructions on pool safety and encourage family togetherness.
F STREET REOPENING PROJECT UPDATE
The $13.6 million F Street Reopening project is entering a significant construction phase, with noticeable impacts on the traveling public expected on I-15 between Washington Avenue and the U.S. 95 exits. Lane and ramp closures and restrictions begin at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 14, and will run through the end of 2013. I-15 will be reduced to two lanes northbound and southbound between Lake Mead and U.S. 95. Traffic impacts will be posted on freeway message boards and NDOT’s website. The restrictions will help expedite completion of the project. For more detailed information about NDOT projects, go online. Unscheduled restrictions and closures may occur and weather can impact work schedules. For the latest information on Nevada highway conditions, call 5-1-1 or visit www.nvroads.com/.
