DOWNTOWN CURFEW FOR YOUTH
In an effort to increase the safety of downtown Las Vegas, the Las Vegas City Council has approved a bill that creates a separate curfew specific to downtown Las Vegas. The 9 p.m. curfew went into effect Oct. 4 and affects youth under the age of 18 from being in the area bound by Main Street, Maryland Parkway, Stewart Avenue and Bridger until 5 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and legal holidays. I will host the first annual Ward 5 Bluegrass Music Festival Sunday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza, located at 720 Twin Lakes Drive inside Lorenzi Park. I invite you to bring the entire family to this free event to enjoy the music of local bluegrass bands playing traditional American music with banjos, fiddles, guitars and mandolins. FREE ART INSTRUCTION IN LORENZI PARK
The Artz-to-Go art bus and art teachers will visit Lorenzi Park on selected Saturdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. to provide free art instruction, books and snacks to children.
