I wanted to say a special thank you to the families who participated in the Fishing Derby on Nov. 9. It was a great time and plenty of fish were caught. I want to thank the mentors and partners who made this event successful and we look forward to the next fishing event to be announced soon.

Councilman Barlow will host a news conference to announce new roadway safety improvements on Martin L. King Boulevard at noon on Monday, Nov. 18, near the intersection of Balzar Avenue. The city recently conducted a traffic study and the councilman will provide the results to the community.
West Las Vegas Library’s 40-year anniversary celebration will take place on Dec. 2, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the library. This library is known as a cultural gathering place for the community featuring an African-American Special Collection consisting of specialized materials by and about African-Americans along with the library district’s first dedicated Homework Help Center. WARD 5 BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL DEC. 1
The monthly Bluegrass Music Festival will take place Sunday, Dec. 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza, located at 720 Twin Lakes Drive inside Lorenzi Park. I invite you to bring the entire family to this free event to enjoy the music of local bluegrass bands playing traditional American music with banjos, fiddles, guitars and mandolins.
