JOIN COUNCILMAN BEERS FOR HOLIDAY BIKE RIDE DEC. 14
Join me, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), other local elected officials, and cyclists of all ages and abilities for a Holiday Bike Ride Saturday, Dec. 14, at 8 a.m. at the RTC’s Westcliff Transit Center and Park & Ride, located at 25 S. Durango Drive. Bring a new, unwrapped toy and join local cyclists in festive holiday attire or a decked-out bicycle to deliver holiday cheer. I will kick off this guided bike ride from the transit center at 8:10 a.m. Riders will roll leisurely down the scenic bike route along Alta Drive, and then head south to end at NV Energy on Sahara Avenue, where Las Vegas City Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian will greet you with hot chocolate and candy canes. This fun 10-mile roundtrip ride will have you in the holiday spirit with free giveaways and prizes for the most festive holiday attire or bike decoration. Free parking is available at the Westcliff Transit Center.

This family-friendly ride will introduce cyclists to a bike-friendly part of Las Vegas – including the scenic Alta Drive that includes a dedicated bike lane – and also will serve as a means to help gather and donate new, unwrapped gifts to the 98.5 KLUC’s “Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo” Annual Toy Drive, which provides gifts to local children for the holiday season.

For more information on the ride and to register, visit online.

IMPORTANT, IF NOT HAPPY, TRAFFIC NEWS
The highway off-ramp bringing traffic from westbound I-215 to the Airport Connector will be closed for repair work every night Dec. 1-14 and again Dec. 18-22. That ramp will be closed around the clock Dec. 15-17. Drivers expecting to use this off-ramp during those times should plan to give themselves additional time to reach their destination. Detours will be posted during the closures.

The closures scheduled for Dec. 1-14 and Dec. 18-22 will be from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. each night. The ramp will be closed all day and all night Dec. 15, 16 and 17.

This work is part of Clark County’s federally funded I-215 Airport Connector Phase 1 project, which includes widening a section of I-215 and bridges over Paradise Road, Warm Springs Road, Robindale Road, Duck Creek and the Airport Connector. The project is expected to be complete in January.
