Tennis Tournament Scores Big In Las Vegas

Some of the biggest names in tennis will converge on Las Vegas later this month to compete in theTennis Channel Open. The ATP tournament, owned and operated by the Tennis Channel, will take place at the city’s Darling Tennis Center from February 27 through March 5.
The tournament, dubbed as “Tennispalooza,” will include the main event – the ATP men’s pro tournament, along with a number of other events including the Mirage Cup Women’s Pro Tournament, paddle tennis championships and the fast serve contest. Tennnispalooza will also feature a number of related events such as the USTA Member Appreciation Day and the World Stringing Championships, where individuals compete to see who can string a racquet the fastest.
The events will feature tennis stars including Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick, Robby Ginepri and James Blake, among others. Doubles play will include the number one ranked doubles team, American twins Bob and Mike Bryan.
The tournament is the first major event of its kind for the new Darling Tennis Center. The facility, located near Buffalo Drive and Washington Avenue, is the largest public outdoor tennis center in the state of Nevada. It includes 23 lighted courts surrounding a center stadium court that seats more than 3,000 spectators.
