City Breaks Ground On New Community Center

City officials recently broke ground on what will become the city’s largest leisure center. The $40.5 Centennial Hills Community Center will be located on 18 acres in Centennial Hills Park on North Buffalo Drive near Deer Springs Way.

The 98,000-square foot facility will house a number of amenities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, two gymnasiums, a senior center, space for a variety of activities for all ages and public art. As with other city community centers, this facility will offer a number of activities, classes and events.

In addition to the facility, the construction project will include the realignment of Deer Springs Way, between Conough Lane and John Herbert Boulevard, enhancing access to the 215-Beltway.

Construction of the facility and roadway project will begin in March 2006 and be completed during the third quarter of 2007.
