Downtown Senior Center Set To Open

Beginning next month, seniors will be able to obtain essential services right in downtown Las Vegas at the new Downtown Senior Services Center. The center, located at Ninth and Bridger Streets, in the former First Baptist Church building, will house offices for several local senior groups, allowing seniors to get the help they need in a "one-stop-shop" setting.

Services offered at the facility will include free legal assistance through the city’s Senior Law Project and medical health services to low-income seniors through the Nevada Health Center Office. Jude 22, a food bank that provides food to low-income seniors, will also be housed at the center. The Economic Opportunity Board’s Foster Grandparent and Single Point of Entry programs will also be available at the location. The Foster Grandparent program pairs seniors with at-risk elementary school children for mentoring and the Single Point of Entry program provide community wide program referral services for seniors.

City officials will celebrate the new facility with a grand opening in April.
