Applications For PALS Grants Now Being Accepted

Parents who have ideas for programs that will enhance their children’s education can now apply for Parents As Learning Support (PALS) grants to help fund the programs. Applications for the grants, which range from $1,500 to $8,000, are being accepted through Friday, May 5.
The grants are intended to enhance the learning environment and process for students, by cultivating partnerships between parents and schools. To qualify for the grants, applicants must be affiliated with an established parent or school organization located in Las Vegas city limits.
Grant amounts requested must be matched with parental participation through volunteer time, donated resources or funding for the project. The grants may be used for a broad range of programs including health and safety programs, after-school activities, parenting classes and more.
Last year, 13 elementary schools participated in the program. Grants totaling $140,000 leveraged a match of close to $1.8 million in parental participation.
For more information on the program or to download an application, visit the PALS Web page or contact the Department of Neighborhood Services.
