Redistricting Creates New City Council Ward Boundaries

New boundary lines are now in place for the city’s six City Council wards. The new boundaries are the result of a redistricting process that occurred during the last severa; months.

The City Council began the redistricting process because the population among the six wards varied by nearly 50,000 residents in some cases. The Las Vegas City Charter  allows for City Council ward boundaries to be redrawn when the population among wards varies by more than five percent.

The availability of land and development of new homes in the northwest part of the valley led to rapid population growth in Ward 6. The ward grew to 128,000 residents, compared to about 81,000 in Ward 1.

To find out which City Council ward you now reside in, visit the city’s Web site and enter your address.
