On Monday, Oct. 16, city officials and local bike enthusiasts will celebrate the opening of a new valley bike trail. The 13-mile “Downtown to Red Rock” bike trail runs from Main Street to Charleston Boulevard, where it connects with the Red Rock Canyon conservation area entrance.

Crews began work on the project just last month, adding bike lanes and road signs on the route. The project was made possible with $637,000 in funding from the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada  and will open in time for the Las Vegas Century Bicycle Ride and Bike Expo , which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21.
