Local Authors’ Fair Planned For The Vegas Valley Book Festival
Local Published Authors Can Still Sign Up For Free Space At The Fair

 

The Vegas Valley Book Festival will play host to a local authors' fair on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Historic Fifth Street School, located at 401 S. Fourth Street. Local published authors can still sign up for a free space at the fair by calling 229-5431. The event is free and open to the public.

The authors’ fair is one of several special events for local writers that will take place during the annual three-day literary festival, Nov. 6 to 8, 2008, which is co-sponsored by the city of Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs. Other offerings include:

Friday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A series of free workshops for local writers presented by the Henderson Writers Group and the Red Rock Review.

Saturday, Nov. 8, 12:30 p.m.
A symposium for writers, “The Poet as Editor/ The Editor as Poet,” presented by the UNLV Creative Writing Department.

Saturday, Nov. 8, 1:45 p.m.
“The Bumpy Road To Getting Published,” A workshop presented by Stephens Press.

The Vegas Valley Book Festival, now in its seventh year, is also sponsored by Nevada Humanities, Las Vegas Review-Journal and the Clark County Library District. Programming partners include Black Mountain Institute, UNLV School of Architecture Downtown Design Center and UNLV Creative Writing Department, with the local chapter of the AIGA as the official branding partner.
