Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef Aquarium hosted a “Party for the Planet” (April 17), to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day!!

 The Sustainability booth featured the city’s new Sustainability and Green Building Brochures and pens & poker chips (giveaways) featuring information about Yucca Mountain. |
 The City’s Environmental Compliance Officers were also at Mandalay Bay sharing information about water quality. |

Employees from several departments volunteered during their lunch hour to submit applications for solar rebates from NV Energy. The City is using American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding to install 21 solar parking structures during the first two years.

Several employees volunteered to help at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas’ (UNLV) Earth Day Event for elementary school children on April 22 – Earth Day.
