Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef Aquarium hosted a “Party for the Planet” (April 17), to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day!!

Marty Siska (Public Works) volunteered to represent the City.		The Sustainability booth featured the city’s new Sustainability and Green Building Brochures and pens & poker chips (giveaways) featuring information about Yucca Mountain.
The City’s Environmental Compliance Officers were also at Mandalay Bay sharing information about water quality.

Employees from several departments volunteered during their lunch hour to submit applications for solar rebates from NV Energy. The City is using American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding to install 21 solar parking structures during the first two years.

Several employees volunteered to help at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas’ (UNLV) Earth Day Event for elementary school children on April 22 – Earth Day.
