Downtown Cultural Series - Twin Peaks Brass Concert

This afternoon concert will feature a diverse repertoire of Classical, Baroque and Romantic music. Twin Peaks Brass is a brass quintet formed in Las Vegas by local trumpeter Michael Weber. Founded at the West Las Vegas Arts Center in 1997, The Poets’ Corner premiered as the first established poetry program in Las Vegas. This monthly forum event, hosted by LaBlaque Williams, is for established poets and open-mic participants and features the best local talent. Summer Youth Basketball Leagues Registration(ages 5-12)

Registration open April 22-May 13 for league season June 8-Aug. 3.

Cost: $85, includes jersey.

Various city of Las Vegas community centers.

Teams receive two weeks of practice prior to season, and one practice per week during season (based on availability). Recreation league teams (ages 5-12) guaranteed seven games; no playoffs. Competitive league teams (ages 9-12) guaranteed seven season games, followed by playoffs July 22-Aug. 3. Volunteer coaches needed; coaches will receive NAYS training prior to coaching. A stylized Chinese play, the lovely Princess Jade Pure is held captive by her jealous scheming step-aunt and her chancellor. Road Wanderer, a minstrel passing through with his pet dragon, learns of her plight and rescues her, only to be rewarded with contempt. He soon comes to see the Princess as thoughtless and unkind and leaves her behind. Realizing her mistake and knowing she must marry soon in order to become Empress, she tries to find him. The Princess decrees that only someone with a pet dragon may court her. The evil aunt has the Road Wanderer imprisoned so she can steal his dragon. Rock Climb Red Rock with Jackson Hole Mountain Guides(teenagers of all abilities) Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
