  1. 10 years ago, we set out on a journey to transition to renewable energy. Today, we proudly power our city facilities with 100 percent renewable energy generated by solar at forty of our facilities and receive hydropower from Hoover Dam
  2. Our effortshave been a result of foundationional policy and continuous progress since 2006when Mayor Oscar B. Goodman signed the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s ClimateProtection Agreement. Since then we have completed more than six megawatts ofsolar generation, replacement of 52,000 streetlights with LED lighting, added morethan 450 miles of bike lanes and deployed recycling programs at all cityfacilities
  3. Energyefficiencies from our efforts save the city five million dollars annually. They’ve also led to a positive effect on our community: the city’s carbonfootprint is the size today that it was in 1950, despite an unprecedentedpopulation boom since then! All this while city buildings equate to 2.7 millionsquare feet of interior space
  4. Help shape the future of our city by sharing ideas on the City’s 2050 Master Plan by calling 702.229.IDEA or emailing the Planning Department at masterplan@lasvegasnevada.gov
  5. We play a crucial role in the conservation and management of the water supply for residents and businesses by supporting regional management efforts by the Southern Nevada Water Authority. Forty billion gallons of water have been conserved by residents and businesses alike despite adding half a million people to our population.  Help conserve water by watering no more than three times a week, following SNWA’s indoor conservation tips, planting drought tolerant trees, plants, and water efficient landscaping, or by getting a pool cover.
  6. We are doing our part to keep our desert clean by providing recycling at all of its parks and facilities and Republic Services has rolled out new single stream recycling service to all southern Nevada residents.
  7. We work closely with the RTC to plan, construct, and maintain transportation networks in the region. Use RTC Transit, bike, or join RTC’s Club Ride program to help you get between home, work, and destinations around you.
