The Operations and Maintenance Department oversees the maintenance of public roadways and buildings as well as the city's vehicle fleet to ensure community safety.
Operations and Maintenance is responsible for:
- The acquisition, maintenance and repair of the city fleet of vehicles and equipment
- Maintenance of more than 150 city buildings
- General street and right-of-way maintenance on roughly 1,250 miles of roadway in Las Vegas including street sweeping, and storm drain, flood control and sanitary sewer system maintenance
- Reviewing and approving private maintenance requirements
- Street rehabilitation including a preventative maintenance program that identifies Las Vegas streets that are in relatively good condition but may need minor repair work
- The pavement management program, which focuses on residential roads in need of major repair and restoration
- Graffiti removal / abatement
