The Las Vegas Book Festival is Nevada’s largest literary event and a true celebration of the written, spoken and illustrated word. Established in 2002 as the Vegas Valley Book Festival, the city of Las Vegas, in partnership with Nevada Humanities and numerous community sponsors, brings the joy of books, reading and lifelong learning to Las Vegas. Each year, the free festival welcomes thousands of attendees of all ages for a day filled with engaging author discussions, book signings, readings, workshops and special presentations. The festival features an incredible range of authors, from local independent writers to nationally acclaimed bestselling authors, covering genres and topics that include politics, Las Vegas history, romance, science fiction, mystery, thrillers, children's literature, young adult fiction, and works by Latino and other diverse voices.
The annual Spark! Youth Poetry Competition for Clark County students in grades 9-12 is taking applications now. Learn more and register to participate here. The deadline to register is Oct. 12, 2026. The competition will take place at the Poetry Pavilion at the festival.
