The Las Vegas City Council voted Sept. 17, 2025, to select Kara Kelley as interim Ward 2 representative. The seat was vacated when previous Ward 2 Councilwoman Victoria Seaman resigned to take a position with the federal government.
Kelley was sworn into office at the special Sept. 30, 2025, City Council meeting. Kelley will serve as Ward 2 representative either through July or December 2026, depending on the outcome of the 2026 primary election. A new Ward 2 representative will be elected in the 2026 elections.
Kelley is a native Las Vegan who graduated from Valley High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communications as well as a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from UNLV. Currently vice chairman and commissioner of the Colorado River Commission of Nevada, she is a former CEO of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and executive director of Governor Brian Sandoval's Nevada Sesquicentennial Commission (2013-14). In addition, she runs her own executive coaching and advisory firm. She has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Women in Las Vegas History.
