VISION AND MISSION
The city of Las Vegas illuminates arts and culture and celebrates its bold, dynamic, and diverse community by providing access to artworks within city spaces and the public realm. The Public Art and Gallery Program serves valley residents and visitors by acquiring and displaying artworks in public spaces and supporting community-led public art efforts.
 
DESCRIPTION
The city of Las Vegas Public Art and Gallery Program invites artists, curators, and collectives to submit proposals for upcoming fine art exhibitions in city-operated gallery spaces. This opportunity is open to both solo and group exhibitions, with an emphasis on presenting high-quality, thought-provoking artwork that engages our diverse community.
We welcome proposals representing a wide range of artistic media, styles, and cultural perspectives. All themes must be appropriate for general audiences. Content featuring graphic violence, nudity, or sexually explicit imagery is strongly discouraged.
 
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States. Current city of Las Vegas employees are not eligible. Applicants should emphasize their professional experience and exhibition history, which are key factors in the evaluation panel’s review.

  •         Charleston Heights Art Center Gallery, 800 S. Brush St., Las Vegas, NV 89107
  •         City Hall Grand Gallery and Chamber Gallery, 495 S. Main St., Las Vegas, NV 89101
  •         Civic Center Gallery, 525 S. Main St., Las Vegas, NV 89101
  •         Historic Fifth Street School, Mayor’s Gallery, 401 S. Fourth St., Las Vegas, NV 89101
Artists may indicate a preferred gallery; final placement will be based on proposal fit and gallery availability.
 
EXHIBITION APPLICATION SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All required materials listed below must be submitted electronically as one combined PDF within the application.
     Page 1: Letter of Interest
     Your one-page Letter of Interest should include:
  •              Full contact information: name, mailing address, phone number, email, and (if applicable) website or portfolio link.
  •              First paragraph: Introduce yourself.
  •              Second paragraph: Describe your proposed exhibition.
  •              Final paragraph: Explain why your work is a strong fit for the gallery and its audience.
      Page 2: Artist Resume or CV
  •              Provide your professional experience and background in the arts, beginning with your most recent work.
  •              Aim to keep your resume or CV to one page. 
     Pages 3+ : Up to 20 Images of Artwork
  •              Include up to 20 high-quality images of the works you are proposing.
  •              Below each image, list the title, medium, dimensions, and date of creation.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Proposals will be evaluated based on:
  •         Artistic quality and innovation
  •         Clarity and relevance of the proposed theme
  •         Artistic merit and potential for public engagement
  •         Professionalism, alignment with the program mission, and adherence to guidelines
 
SCHEDULE
  • Call for Gallery Exhibit Proposals Opens: Friday, Nov. 21, 2025
  • Call for Gallery Exhibit Proposals Closes: Rolling review and approval process
Gallery exhibitions are typically scheduled 12 to 18 months in advance. Applicants will be notified of the panel’s decision within 30 days of submission.
Please Note: Due to the high volume of submissions, we are unable to provide individual critiques or feedback on artwork submitted for this call. All applications will be reviewed by the gallery panel according to the selection criteria. If you’d like feedback on your current work, we encourage you to join our bi-monthly CritChat sessions.

TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL PROPOSALS
  •         Submit high-quality images that showcase your artistic voice and technical strengths.
  •         Keep application materials organized. A clean PDF, simple labeling, and a polished resume help the panel understand your practice.
  •         Demonstrate preparedness by highlighting exhibitions, experience, or accomplishments that show readiness for a public gallery setting.
  •         Consider the audience. Our galleries welcome a diverse community of all ages.
  •         Review the guidelines carefully. Completing all requirements and proofreading materials demonstrates professionalism.
