Deputy City Manager
Tim Hacker
Tim Hacker was appointed chief of public safety services on July 18, 2018. His current responsibilities as deputy city manager are to support Municipal Court, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and the Office of Emergency Management.
Hacker held the position of director of Parks and Recreation from May 2014 until 2018. While with Parks and Recreation, he focused on reestablishing a stand-alone department after it had been merged with Neighborhood Services as a result of the Great Recession.
Prior to joining the city of Las Vegas, Hacker has served communities in three states as a chief appointed officer including: city manager of North Las Vegas, 2011-2013; city manager of Mesquite, 2006-2011, city manager of Kewanee, Ill., 1997-2006; and city administrator of Humboldt, Iowa, 1991-1993.
Hacker also served municipal, county and regional jurisdictions as a planner. Hacker has a bachelor’s degree in community and regional planning from Iowa State University, and a master’s degree in public administration from Southern Illinois University. He is also a credentialed city manager from the International City County Managers Association.
In addition to his career in public service, Hacker enjoys fishing in the company of friends and family.
