All individuals arrested on a misdemeanor offense within city limits are booked into the detention center located at 3200 Stewart Ave. All inmates are treated with dignity and respect by more than 218 employees, including corrections officers, sergeants, lieutenants, law enforcement support technicians, communication specialists and facilities personnel.
The detention center has an average daily inmate population of about 430 inmates. Unless remanded to adult status by the court having jurisdiction over the case, juveniles are not housed in this facility.
Medical and mental health care is provided by a contracted medical service provider, which includes 24-hour nursing care, weekly physician and psychiatric visits as well as basic dental care. In addition, the city is committed to offering employment-skill training, emotional and wellness classes, substance use disorder programs, resource service seminars and learning workshops to support the successful reentry process for our justice-involved clients. You are encouraged to visit your family and friends while they are in the Department of Public Safety Detention Center by utilizing the video visitation system. This system allows the visits to take place in the privacy of your own home or on the go. You can use your own computer or smartphone. To schedule a video visitation session, please visit www.securustech.net and click on Securus Video Connect to set up your account. Video visits must be scheduled 48 hours in advance and are in 20-minute intervals. All official visitors, including attorneys and anyone accompanying the attorney, must be pre-approved and scheduled for visits. A valid picture identification card is required for admittance. Please call 702-229-1786 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday to schedule an appointment.
Bail can be posted 24 hours a day, seven days a week online or at the bail window located at 3200 Stewart Ave. You may also call the bail hotline at 702-229-6460.
MasterCard, Visa, Discover and cash are accepted for bail. American Express is not accepted. When posting bail with cash, the exact amount is needed, the window will not make change.

Accounts can be set up for inmates to make calls through by a pre-paid collect account or a pre-paid debit account. The pre-paid debit account establishes an account for an inmate to call one specific number. A pre-paid debit account allows inmates to call any number, to include cellular telephone numbers and international numbers. If an account is not established, inmates are still able to make collect calls.
Property releases can be initiated two ways. First, an inmate can request a property release form from an officer. Second, an individual can request the property release form at the bail window, located at 3300 Stewart Ave.
Both requests require the completion of a property release form. All property requests will be processed during the designated times only. Property releases will require releasing all of the inmate’s property or all of the inmate’s money. This includes property/money releases for bail purposes.
Property release times:
8 a.m. - 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Inmates are authorized to receive written correspondence in accordance with jail policy. Do not send photographs or packages, as they are not permitted. If inmates receive unauthorized mail, it will be returned. If it does not have a return address, it will be returned to the post office’s dead letter file.
