Homeowners in city of Las Vegas ZIP codes 89101, 89102, 89104, 89106, 89107 or 89110 may qualify for a free drought-tolerant shade tree, including planting and irrigation at no cost.
The city has received $5 million in federal funding to plant drought tolerant shade trees in areas most affected by the urban heat island. Due to the lack of tree canopy and an overabundance of concrete, asphalt, buildings and traffic, these areas have increased temperatures which is known as an urban heat island.
Do you qualify?
You may qualify for a free tree if you:
- Live in one of the eligible ZIP codes: 89101, 89102, 89104, 89106, 89107 or 89110.
- Have a suitable front yard where a tree can be planted.
- Can provide property owner permission for the planting.
Renting your home? Ask your landlord to complete and sign the application granting permission for a tree to be planted on the property.
