Municipal Court marshals are category I peace officers with full law enforcement powers. They are responsible for public safety at the Municipal Courthouse and have several duties including:
- Courtroom marshals oversee the courtroom and the safety and security of their assigned judges.
- Access control/scanner marshals who are first-line security upon entering the building. These marshals also assist the public in locating their courtrooms and provide customer service.
- Field marshals serve judicial priority warrants the judge has ordered, as well as bench warrants that require the defendant to go to jail.
Security Information At The Courthouse
Persons entering the building will be required to pass through a metal detector. Items considered potentially dangerous will not be allowed and may be confiscated including, but not limited to, ammunition, aerosols, lighter torches, pepper spray, forks, glass bottles, knives, tools, knitting needles, scissors, razor blades, metal combs, sharp items and curling/hot irons. Alcoholic beverages and narcotics will not be allowed in the building. All firearms and weapons are prohibited. You will be asked to empty your pockets. All bags and purses will be searched. Violators are subject to arrest. The premises are under constant video surveillance.
It should be noted that any individual who enters the building in an irate state is subject to arrest under Nevada Revised Statutes 203.119.
