We continue our work with neighborhoods to address their concerns about vacant properties.
Vacant properties are often hot beds for criminal activity, fires and more that put a neighborhood and first responders at risk. They also contribute to blight and decline.
A new process will formalize a 62-day plan to address properties not covered under our dangerous buildings code or imminent hazard ordinances.
These types of vacant properties, known as “chronically blighted properties,” may not be structurally unsound, but generate calls for service from law enforcement and safety concerns from the neighborhood that we cannot address through our other current processes.
Tearing down buildings is never our intention. We always strive to work with property owners but this is another tool to mitigate blight when working with the owner is not possible.
Our goal is to make our neighborhoods safer for all.
If you have concerns about a building in your neighborhood, you can submit a complaint by calling 702-229-6615 or emailing CodeEnforcement@lasvegasnevada.gov.
