During the April 13 City Council meeting it was shared that we will begin installing on-street meters in the 18B Las Vegas Arts District at the end of April. This is a popular area downtown and using parking meters will allow customers to be able to park in the most convenient spaces and employees to have more lots to choose from. Our goal is to balance the demand to support the district to make parking more convenient for everyone.
As a short-term solution, in addition to the on-street meters, we have also added 500 parking spaces in new lots throughout the district. These lots offer subsidized employee and resident parking; for subsidized parking, please call Parking Services at 702.229.4700 or email parkingpermits@lasvegasnevada.gov.
Security is now available from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays to escort employees and residents to city lots and on-street parking overnight. Business owners and property managers in the area can provide a cell phone number to their employees and residents for this service.
Within the next two years, we will be adding a parking garage to the Arts District. Revenues from meters and lots in the Arts District will help fund the garage, which will offer safe and affordable parking solutions. At this time, we do not have a location, but will share it as soon as we do.
Here’s what you need to know about these new meters:
- On-street and parking lot meter rates will vary on time limit and rate. The on-street meters along busier streets close to businesses will be $2 per hour with a four-hour limit to balance demand for those convenient spaces. All day parking will continue to be available in parking lots and some streets for anyone who wants to pay less and stay longer.
- Fees apply 24/7 in parking lots. For on-street parking, fees apply every day between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., except for holidays; time limits for on-street meters only apply between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
- Want to grab-and-go or quickly pick-up something? We will maintain the loading zones in the Arts District and adding more where appropriate.
We want to continue to fuel support and growth in the Arts District and believe managed parking will make visiting this area more convenient.
