After extensive discussion, and in response to feedback from artists, residents, employees, business owners and property owners, the city of Las Vegas has made some adjustments to parking plans for the 18b Las Vegas Arts District. Previous changes set to go into effect on Oct. 1, 2026, are no longer going to be implemented. Along with the feedback from the Arts District, city leadership also wants to ensure that parking changes do not exacerbate the challenges that businesses are facing due to the large storm drain project on Charleston Boulevard. Effective immediately, the city has rolled back planned changes for Oct. 1 and will be proceeding with the following parking plan.
- The city will offer a subsidized $10 monthly parking permit to area employees in the new 500-space Arts District Parking Garage that will open at 1421 S. Casino Center Blvd. This rate will remain in place through the completion of the Charleston Boulevard Storm Drain Project, currently estimated to be Jan. 1, 2028. The $32 million garage offers secure covered parking.
- The city will continue to subsidize monthly parking passes for employees in the Arts District at $10 for 10-hour designated on-street parking.
- The free lunch spot parking program will continue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and will be in effect in the garage. The city will not move forward with plans to add free weekday parking before 11 a.m. or to add paid parking hours between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m.
- Monthly parking on privately owned lots will increase to $50 per month, consistent with the city's existing lease agreements with those private property owners. This is also consistent with monthly permit costs across the city, with the exception of the subsidized rates in the Arts District.
- Areas north of Charleston Boulevard that had been proposed to have paid street parking in the future will continue to be free through the through completion of the Charleston Boulevard Storm Drain Project.
- There has been significant interest in a parking validation program for the Arts District and the city will work with Arts District businesses to explore this option.
The city will continue to evaluate parking needs, expand available options and communicate with stakeholders to improve services. The city’s goal is to balance customer access, business needs and affordable parking options for all, while preserving the unique character that makes the Arts District special.
