After the holidays wrap up, many Christmas trees end up at the curb — but they don’t have to. Christmas trees are valuable organic material that can be recycled and transformed into nutrient-rich mulch that benefits parks, gardens, schools, and neighborhoods across the Las Vegas Valley.
By recycling your tree, you’re helping reduce landfill waste, conserve water, and support greener, healthier public spaces. It’s a simple action that makes a lasting impact.
Why Recycle Your Christmas Tree?
When recycled, Christmas trees are chipped into mulch that is used throughout the valley to:
-
Help retain soil moisture
-
Improve plant health
-
Support public landscaping and dust control
-
Enhance school and community gardens
Instead of taking up space in a landfill, your tree becomes part of a sustainable cycle that gives back to the community.
Since tree recycling began in 2001, Las Vegas Valley residents have recycled 319,009 Christmas trees, creating more than 2,774 tons of mulch. Last winter alone, 11,698 trees were recycled and turned into 102 tons of mulch, which were used for landscaping projects and dust control efforts throughout the region.
Free Christmas Tree Drop-Off Locations

Before dropping off your tree, please make sure to:
-
Remove all lights, wire, tinsel, ornaments, and nails

Recycling your Christmas tree is a simple way to close out the holiday season with purpose. It’s a gift that keeps on giving — to our parks, our schools, and our community.
