We want to keep Downtown Las Vegas as safe as possible.
To help address safety, a new FLEX Team has been created. The team is a specialized unit within our Department of Public Safety. FLEX Team’s primary function is to identify and suppress criminal activity through adding visible patrols—whether in vehicles or on foot—when and where crime is expected, plain-clothes investigations, and problem-solving efforts. FLEX intentionally addresses juvenile delinquency, gangs, quality of life concerns, and violent crime in our downtown corridor through proactive policing that includes community engagement and working with our local elected officials
The Department of Public Safety created the FLEX Team on January 22, 2023, in response to a growing need to be versatile and effective in our law enforcement approaches. From February-April 2023, the team has completed 558 calls for service, which resulted in 52 arrests and 115 citations. The top violations during this time were pedestrian and narcotics violations.
The FLEX Team’s mission is to disrupt crime and maximize public safety within the tourist corridor and adjacent areas through data-driven approaches focusing on targeted locations. The name FLEX originated from the department’s intention and focus on versatility, responding to and handling complex crime scenes and investigations within the city of Las Vegas jurisdiction. The FLEX team works alongside our law enforcement partners within the city of Las Vegas including LVMPD and CCSDPD.
