Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial grant funds were used for the construction and installation of a sign on the west end of the Fremont Street Experience. The sign was completed in March of 2020 and highlights photos of Fremont Street through the decades.
The sign includes a vertical 430-square-foot split-flap style LED screen featuring a rotation of historic photos.
Millions of visitors travel to the Fremont Street Experience
and downtown Las Vegas annually, and this large sign provides them a glimpse
into the past. Before there was a zip line or a 1,375-foot-long canopy with 16.4 million pixels, Fremont Street served as the heart of Las Vegas. It was where the city’s first hotel opened in 1906, and it also became a center of
commerce for the growing city.
The LED sign serves as a reminder of Fremont Street’s past and also welcomes visitors and residents alike to downtown Las Vegas.
