Investing In The Arts

How we are continuing to invest in public art throughout our city.

This year, we are investing $395,000 to support the arts and maintain public art throughout the city.

Here are some of the beautiful projects that have been recently completed.

The Public Art and Gallery Program team is currently managing 13 active projects funded through the Percent for the Arts program. A percentage of our capital improvement fund budget is redirected back into the arts each year.

  • The Medical District Sculpture Projects and the Mirabelli Community Center Mural
  • The Hualapai Canyon Trailhead Environmental Public Art Project
  • The AMP Gateway and Arts Districts Project, Boulder Plaza Sculpture, two Civic Center Sculptures, and the Listos y Seguros Sculpture
  • The AMP Utility Cabinet Painting Project
  • The 3rd Street Sculpture Project, Heers Park Tile Mural, and the James Gay Park Public Art Project
  • The Centennial Hills Park Tile Mural

Projects that our team will be working on in the coming months include:

Stupak Community Center Mural

The Arts Commission recommends installing a large-scale mural at the Stupak Community Center. The mural will bring color and vibrancy to this active hub within the Gateway District, which offers a variety of classes, services, and community resources to the neighborhood.

Arts District Garage Mural

The Arts Commission recommends commissioning an artist to create a permanent mural for the new Arts District parking garage. The mural will be installed on the west-facing wall, adding a bold visual element and highlighting the city’s commitment to public art.

Cimarron Rose Community Center Mural

The Arts Commission recommends commissioning an artist to create a vibrant mural along the exterior walls of the Cimarron Rose Community Center.

The Arts Commission recommends commissioning an artist to create a large-scale mural to transform the brick wall surrounding the Doolittle Pool.

Pop Squires Park Mural

The Arts Commission recommends commissioning an artist to create a mural on the concessions and restroom building at Pop Squires Park. This project aims to expand Ward 6’s public art collection while celebrating a gathering place that brings the community together.
