Agenda Items 64 & 68 – Parcel D within Symphony Park: City Council approved the sale of Parcel D within Symphony Park to SLC Development, Inc., for multi-family housing, commercial space and amenities.
Agenda Item 66 – Dula Complex: At the Jan. 7 Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission meeting, the Commission unanimously recommended re-naming the Las Vegas Senior Center and Dula Gymnasium to the Dula Community Center at the Dula Complex. The suggestion was recommended due to a renovation and reorganization of programming at the adjacent facilities. The facilities will now be combined into one multi-generational facility with programs for youth, seniors and adaptive recreation. The Dula Gymnasium was originally named in honor of Robert F. Dula, a police officer who was killed in the line of duty on April 8, 1955. The name change was approved.
Agenda Item 70 – Hours of Cleaning for Public Sidewalks: City Council approved a bill to authorize the Department of Operations and Maintenance to determine and designate hours of cleaning for public sidewalks. The bill will authorize the Director of the Department of Operations and Maintenance to determine and designate hours of cleaning for public sidewalks. During such designated and noticed hours of cleaning, no person shall sit, lie, sleep, camp or otherwise obstruct the cleaning of the designated public sidewalks.
Agenda Item 71 – Golf Courses and Open Spaces: City Council approved a bill pertaining to the repurposing of certain golf courses and open spaces. The bill repeals procedures and standards relative to the repurposing of certain golf courses and open spaces which were adopted last year and returns to the processes and standards that would have applied had that section not been adopted.
Agenda Item 72 – City Communication Sign: City Council approved a bill to establish “City communication sign” as a subcategory of off-premise sign and the parameters under which such signs are allowed. The category of sign will be exempt from the ordinance requirements and limitations otherwise applicable to off-premise signs.
Agenda Item 73 – Mandatory Meetings for Golf Courses and Open Spaces: City Council approved a bill to add provisions regarding neighborhood meetings, including mandatory meetings for certain types of applications, such as general plan amendments regarding land use and applications to repurpose certain golf courses and open spaces.
