Nachos, Nachos, Nachos

Celebrate National Nacho Day!

In celebration of National Nacho Day, we are proud to present five fabulous Las Vegas plates of nachos for you to try. As you dig in to these crispy, cheesy masterpieces remember to shout out the inventor of nachos, Ignacio Anaya.

The story goes that in 1943 a group of wives from the U.S. military’s Fort Duncan in Texas were shopping in the nearby Mexican City of Piedras Negras. They decided to stop for some dinner but everything was closed. Enter Anaya, who worked at the Victory Club in Piedras Negras and took pity on these hungry guests deciding to cook them something from what was left in the club’s kitchen.

He fried some tortilla chips covered them with shredded cheese and sliced jalapeños and slide it in the oven a couple of minutes. The snack was served and Ignacio named them after himself using his nickname “Nacho.”

Here are some great options to enjoy nachos in Las Vegas.

Nacho Daddy

This fast growing group of restaurants specializing in nachos in Vegas born, and was established in 2010. Variety is the name of the game at Nacho Daddy. They have the standard nacho toppings of cheese, guacamole, salsa, pico de gallo, and your favorite meats, but this is the place to scratch your crazy nacho itch.

Ever thought of combining Indian flavors with your nachos? They got you covered with the chicken tinga nachos. You can also try a Thai chicken or lobster and crab nachos.

If you want to embrace the Vegas feels you should go with the Golden Knights nachos featuring filet mignon, sautéed onions, mushrooms and peppers and a hat trick of cheeses – cheddar, jack and queso.

El Dorado Cantina

A fairly new entry to the Mexican cuisine seen in Las Vegas El Dorado Cantina is already a local’s favorite. With a large menu of authentic regional specialties, there is a lot to choose from, but you are here for the nachos.

The Nachos here come in two sizes small, meaning a regular portion, or large, I hope you wore sweat pants or have a ton of help to eat this.

Try carnitas or wild shrimp along with the beans and cheese loaded on crispy chips. In addition, El Dorado offers a vegan option with vegan cheese and sour cream and Beyond Meat, so that everyone can enjoy the gift that is nachos.

Project BBQ LV

Maybe you are craving something different than traditional nachos. If so make a visit to the Project BBQ LV truck at Circa for a different take.

Here you will find crispy potato chips replacing the traditional tortilla chips. Project BBQ smothers the chips in creamy beer cheese and then adds crumbled bacon and chives. It’s like having a loaded baked potato in nacho form. For an extra flavor hit, add some of the house BBQ sauce.

Sin Fronteras Tacos Y Mas

A family-run restaurant in the northwest, Sin Fronteras began as a takeout spot that quickly expanded into a full restaurant. Everything at this spot is homemade and it shows. The owner has run kitchens of fine dining restaurants on the Strip for years, and now he has his own space.

Homemade chips with house-made queso form the base of Sin Fronteras’ nachos. Add in shredded Oaxaca cheese, crema and salsa roja and you have a tasty bite. Add your favorite protein and you will be more than satisfied.

Casa Don Juan

Casa Don Juan is a Vegas classic, and here they are all about tradition. The owners, Raul and Maria Gil, rely on the recipes of abuela Maria and their customers return again and again.

They have more combination plates than you can count and are willing to customize everything on the menu to the taste of their guests. This means you can get your nachos just how you like them at Casa Don Juan. Extra beans, no onions, hot peppers, extra guacamole, you name it and you can have it on your nachos here.
