New Pickleball Courts On The Way

Pickleball is a popular sport that you can try at a number of city parks.

Pickleball continues to be among the fastest growing sports in Las Vegas, and court space is at a premium. The city currently has 35 pickleball courts that are seemingly always in use. To provide additional opportunities a new regional pickleball complex is scheduled to open in early 2027 at Wayne Bunker Park in Ward 4.

The new facility will boast 24 new pickleball courts bringing the total number of public playing areas in the city to 59. It is also planned to have seating, shade structures, lighting, restrooms and new parking lots.

Construction is scheduled to begin on the facility in January 2026, and it will be located in the Southwest corner of the park. This regional pickleball complex is designed to serve residents citywide, while the city continues to invest in neighborhood parks and amenities in multiple areas of the city.

The city’s current pickleball court locations include:

  • Two at Centennial Hills Park;
  • Seven at Durango Hills Park;
  • Eight at Police Memorial Park;
  • Four at Bill Briare Park;
  • Four at Lorenzi Park;
  • Two at Patriot Park;
  • Four at Justice Myron Leavitt & Jaycee Community Park; and
  • Four at Aloha Shores Park.

The new regional pickleball project was funded via the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA), which authorized the sale of  BLM-administered federal lands within a designated boundary in the Las Vegas Valley and required proceeds to be used on projects to fund federal, state and local projects that benefit communities and public lands. The funding may only be used for parks and recreational facilities and cannot be redirected to other services such as roads, housing or schools.

Since 2002 the city has utilized $281.4 million in SNPLMA funds to improve parks and recreation in Las Vegas.

The pickleball complex is part of a broader, citywide investment strategy that also includes park maintenance, neighborhood improvements and infrastructure projects across the city. Projects that are funded by SNPLMA enhance the city’s general fund dollars that pay for roads, public safety and other needs. The city continues to invest in infrastructure to facilitate continued growth with a capital projects budget of more than half a billion dollars. About 40 percent of this capital budget is dedicated to traffic, road and flood control infrastructure and approximately 18 percent is dedicated to general government and city facilities.

More than $67 million goes to cultural and recreation from the city’s general fund of $877 million which includes:

  • General Government $80.4 million;
  • Judicial $34.3 million;
  • Public Safety $517.1 million;
  • Public Works $11 million;
  • Health $11.1 million;
  • Culture & Recreation $67.1 million;
  • Economic Development $29.2 million;
  • and more.

We regularly evaluate where future recreational improvements are needed to ensure balanced access across the community.

Maintenance and improvements to existing parks remain a priority. In addition to new projects, the city continues to invest in upgrades such as restroom repairs, shade structures, lighting, and safety improvements at parks throughout Las Vegas.
