If you’ve ever wanted to watch a movie under the stars with a view of the city, well now you can! Hidden Cinema offers movie-goers a unique movie experience in downtown Las Vegas, just in time for fall. The pop-up movie theater sits on top of the parking garage located at 321 S. Casino Center Blvd.
It’s easy to forget you’re actually on top of a parking garage once you step out of the elevator. The entire top level of the garage has been transformed into a rooftop garden movie experience. Green turf covers the ground, with comfortable bean bag chairs to sit on, plus twinkling lights surround the 30-foot wide movie screen.
Kara Godfrey is the founder of Hidden Cinema and says she came up with the idea to give people a way to escape from the world. “We’re showing great movies, we’ve had fantastic customers so far. Our main goal is to make people happy, for people to have a good time, and give people a way to escape. I think movies basically are a form of escapism to get us away from the world. So people can come up here, have a cocktail, watch their favorite movie and relax.”
While Hidden Cinema does offer snacks and cocktails to purchase, they also allow guest to bring in their own food. Nicole Schoonmaker came out to enjoy a movie with her boyfriend, Michael Grossa. They brought along their own assortment of nuts, cheese and fruit to snack on. They also purchased wine to go along with their snacks. As they relaxed and settled into their beanbag chair made for two, Nicole said, “It’s about time they have something for the locals to do besides gaming.” Her boyfriend, Michael Grossa agrees and was happy to be watching a classic movie he forgot about. “I totally forgot what 'Nothing Hill' was all about so I’m ready.”
Hidden Cinema will show 24 different classic movies until the event leaves on December 18th. In October guests can enjoy Halloween hits like “Psycho” and “Hocus Pocus” and in December,holiday-season favorites like “The Grinch” and “Home Alone.”
Now that the holiday season is approaching, Kara says this is the perfect time to pick a movie you want to see, make a date night of it and be ready to relax. “It’s a nice time to snuggle up. I can’t think of anything better than watching a Christmas movie under the stars while drinking hot chocolate.”
If you want to check out Hidden Cinema, you’ll want to get there soon! The pop-up movie event is only going to be in downtown for a couple of months. To check out movie times you can visit the Hidden Cinema website at: Hidden-cinema.com.
