In
following the President’s declaration of a national Coronavirus emergency, where he gave direction to protect our most vulnerable populations such
as seniors, the City Manager’s Office has decided to close all of the city’s
six senior centers, effective Saturday, March 14.
The
centers will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. In addition, they will be
prepared should they need to be repurposed for community use or city employee
use in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak. This could include a care facility
should widespread closures of local institutions occur. The city is making
these preparations to help ensure vital services can still be provided to city
residents should the situation require.
This
decision was entered into with careful thought and in the best interests of our
entire community. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
Senior center staff will still report to work.
