This week we unveiled our first Strong Start Go Mobile PreK classroom on wheels. This program will provide families with a unique opportunity to attend a high quality early learning program at no cost within their neighborhood.
This program will provide half-day early education services, family engagement workshops and activities, and community advocacy to bring awareness to the importance of early learning and kindergarten readiness.
The bus will provide services to children and families near Doolittle Community Center in West Las Vegas and near Mohave and Washington in East Las Vegas. To enroll or for more information, call 702–229-KIDS.
Data shows that experiences during the first five years of a child’s life are crucial to their development and can be an indicator of future success due to early brain development and growth.
In the city of Las Vegas, 17.7 percent of children ages 0–5 live in poverty, with a large proportion located in the Las Vegas urban core. It is estimated that only 30 percent of children in our community have access to pre-K services. Nevada is currently ranked 49th in education. Through the Strong Start Go program the city is working to provide children with access to educational opportunities and help close the achievement gap for children living within the urban core.

The city of Las Vegas is committed to giving children a “Strong Start” and significantly increasing the number of students who graduate from high school ready for college and career.
Partnering organizations for the Go Bus include Children’s Advocacy Alliance, Nevada Department of Education, Clark County School District, Las Vegas Clark County Library District, and Acelero Learning.
