Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman and Ward 5 Councilman Cedric Crear celebrated the start of construction on two new parking garages coming to Symphony Park.
The $33 million project will see contractor Whiting-Turner construct two four-level garages on Symphony Park Parcels B & L (see map). The garage on Parcel B is set to be completed in August 2019 and will feature 694 parking spaces and 23,370 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The garage on Parcel L is scheduled to be completed in September 2019 and will feature 569 spaces and 5,841 square feet of ground-floor retail.
“We are here today looking at the future. Symphony Park has long been the jewel of the city of Las Vegas. It is an amazing place where we are developing our city’s future,” Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman said at the event.
“I remember when my husband, former Mayor Oscar Goodman, made the deal to acquire a railroad brownfield in the city’s core. There were critics who thought he was crazy, but there were also those who saw his vision. We saw phase one of that vision for Symphony Park come to fruition in 2012 with the year of downtown. That year I had the pleasure of opening the Mob Museum, the new City Hall and on Symphony Park, the beautiful Smith Center for the Preforming Arts. Today we officially enter a new era of development on Symphony Park. All the pieces are coming together. With the World Market Center moving forward with a new convention center in downtown and two residential complexes set to begin construction on Symphony Park next year Downtown is really lighting up with development,” she said.
At the event, Councilman Crear said “I am probably most excited about nearly 30,000-square-feet of ground floor retail that these garages will produce. Our city is growing, but we are not developing without a plan. We want walkable streets with restaurants, shops, bars and places for our residents and visitors to enjoy themselves. It is going to be fantastic!”
The garages provide needed infrastructure as well as new retail space that will benefit current and future developments in Symphony Park. Located on 61 acres in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, Symphony Park is an upscale jewel that is home to arts, culture, science and medicine.
Symphony Park features construction-ready sites with infrastructure in place and developer incentives available. Adjacent to business catalysts that include World Market Center Las Vegas, Las Vegas North Premium Outlets and Molasky Corporate Center, Symphony Park is centrally located in Las Vegas with easy access to U.S. 95 and Interstate 15.
