This exhibit "Timeless” is a variety of colorful concepts ranging from abstract to inspirational pieces to simply capture the essence of everyday life.

The works in this exhibit, acrylic paintings on canvas, are from the artist’s personal collection of conservative and diverse pieces with various themes. The artwork includes animals and characters with a variety of colorful concepts.

Phubiya Oshona Smith is a self-taught artist who reminds us that it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

My artwork is a constant search for the best way to interpret things that I see, places I want to go, motivation, love, life, and lots of colors. I do not limit myself to one medium, style or concept. My inspiration and ideas change. My knowledge changes with each piece I create. I create artwork that makes me happy. I love the way that I am able to think of something and paint it. When people see my work, I want them to see I put my heart in every piece. Just knowing and seeing people enjoy my work and what I’m able to accomplish, I am complete and it makes my day!

Phubiya Oshona Smith aka “Biya” was born in Oceanside, California, on a military base. She became a Las Vegas resident in 1980. Born just as unique as her name, which means “joyful birth,” Phubiya entered this world a breech baby (butt first)! Later in life she would become a devoted wife and mother of four and grandmother of two. She has been a high-tier underwriter for a reputable Las Vegas bank for the last 16 years. Three years ago, Biya began to take up painting as a hobby to relax, but most importantly being able to express her feelings and vision to leave a forever impression of herself for years to follow. Her husband heard and obliged by surprising her on her birthday with everything she needed to start her new endeavor. As a self-taught artist, one painting led to another, led to a few, then to a home gallery. She is now one of Las Vegas’ most active mobile paint and theme party coordinators. Biya hosts and facilitates wine and canvas paint parties at Tahiti Village Resort weekly, private parties and event collaborations with other inspired black entrepreneurs in the Las Vegas community. Biya also donates her paintings to cancer patients/survivors, fulfilling her personal goals to touch people’s hearts through her artwork and leave an everlasting piece of her legacy.
