The West Las Vegas Arts Center is a vibrant community hub dedicated to enriching lives through the cultural and performing arts. Located in the heart of a historic West Las Vegas neighborhood, the arts center serves as a gathering place where youth and adults develop artistic skills, engage in mentorship and celebrate the rich legacy of everyday people.

 
For three decades, the West Las Vegas Arts Center has been a beacon of cultural pride and educational excellence, rooted in the authentic voices and stories of West Las Vegas. We offer diverse programming in music, dance, theatre, visual arts and youth development designed to provide accessible pathways to artistic growth and community connection.

About Our Facility

The West Las Vegas Arts Center, located at 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd., is a storied facility just minutes from Interstate I-15, serving as a cultural anchor for artists and community members of all ages.  The center features:

Move to the beat of West African dance, Hip Hop, Beginner Tap or the Live Arts Dance Institute program for dance classes. Feel the rhythm of the West African Drum class for ages 5 and older. Share the tradition of mariachi lessons for violin, guitar, vihuela or golpe instruments. Bring stories to life with our Arts Conservatory dynamic film media and theatre company for ages 12-18.

The Corner

The Corner is a free recurring community open-mic space for artists and spectators across the valley. No pressure, just community.  We welcome all forms of creativity that respect the diverse community. 

Free and open to the public. Recommended for ages 13 and older, due to possible adult content. For more information, call 702-229-4800.

Elder's Day

We are fortunate to have elders in our community who inspire us to continue to live and affirm our family traditions. We honor our elders and ancestors because their wisdom is a foundation for our youth to survive and prosper. Enjoy an annual afternoon presentation of honor and celebration!

 

Performing & Visual Arts Summer Camp

For 30 incredible years, the city of Las Vegas West Las Vegas Arts Center has been the home of the Performing & Visual Arts Summer Camp for Kids (PVAC), providing community youth with pivotal opportunities for civic engagement and social justice projects through the disciplines of arts education. For eight weeks, these talented young artists, ages 10-15 years, commit themselves to the philosophy, “Excellence Without Excuse,” while developing an appreciation for the music, dance, theatre, visual arts and spoken word. Application, attachments and fees apply.
 
Fee: $400 | Eight weeks during summer break

Community Youth Theatre Network

For aspiring artists, writers and storytellers ages 12–18, this dynamic media program empowers students to bring their creative visions to life. Participants develop skills in digital media production, storytelling and artistic expression while working alongside experienced mentors and peers.

Utilizing the encompassing craft of filmmaking, Community Youth Theatre Network students will learn the essential skills to write, produce, perform in and edit their own short film projects. Students gain a foundational understanding of each part of the discipline, allowing them to interchange roles and support one another within the team.

As interests develop and become more focused, dedicated students will be encouraged to immerse themselves in a chosen aspect of the craft — such as writing, directing, production management, on camera performance and more.

Fees: $42/session 

Live Arts Institute

Fridays & Saturdays

The city of Las Vegas West Las Vegas Live Arts Institute is a structured arts enrichment and development program designed for dancers ages 7-25. This program focuses on a range of classical and contemporary dance techniques, consisting of beginner/intermediate (Level II) to advanced (Level I) dance training and mentorship led by artistic director Avree Walker. Kwanzaa

Celebrating family, culture, and heritage, Kwanzaa is an annual seven-day cultural holiday to bring us together in joy and shared values. Witness an inspiring array of performances alongside the official graduation ceremony for the Girls’ & Boys’ Rite of Passage Programs presented to the community.

Join us as we honor the achievements of young people who have embraced their purpose and identity, reminding us of the strength found in community and the Nguzo Saba—the seven principles— Unity (Umoja), Self-Determination (Kujichagulia), Collective Work and Responsibility (Ujima), Cooperative Economics (Ujamaa), Purpose (Nia), Creativity (Kuumba), and Faith (Imani).

 

Kwanzaa-Family-Stock

Mariachi Nueva Promesa

The city of Las Vegas’ Mariachi Conservatory of Las Vegas (MCLV) fosters the affordability and accessibility of a mariachi education for students ages 6-18, regardless of potential boundaries such as socioeconomic status, language(s) spoken and prior music education experience.

MCLV provides beginner (30-minute), and intermediate and advanced (one-hour) lessons Wednesday - Saturday in Violin, Guitar, Vihuela or Golpe.

Financial and instrument assistance may also be available to eligible participants. For details and to sign up, inquire at [email protected] or [email protected].

Fees: $28-42/session (Intermediate & Advanced) 

     $16-24/session (Beginner)

Rites of Passage Programs

These mentoring programs help young people develop into responsible, caring adults and outstanding citizens. Based on the seven principles of Kwanzaa — Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work, Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose and Faith — participants learn to navigate everyday challenges while building mental strength, social relationships and community consciousness.

Saturdays, Sept. 12-Dec. 12 (No workshop Nov. 28)

This annual program is offered to boys and girls ages 10-16. This mentoring program helps youth cope with the struggles they face in everyday life — school, home and community. These mentoring programs help young people develop into responsible, caring adults and outstanding citizens. Based on the seven principles of Kwanzaa — Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work, Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose and Faith — participants learn to navigate everyday challenges while building mental strength, social relationships and community consciousness.

Sisters In Society Taking Action (S.I.S.T.A.) | Girls Rites of Passage
Saturdays, 3:30-5:30 p.m. | September–December
Registration: $42 | Limited enrollment | Application and parent orientation required.

The design of the Rites of Passage intensive workshops provides necessary tools and skill sets to help our daughters become responsible young women.

Some of the workshop topics include: • Education/Careers • Puberty • Self-Respect • Spirituality • Attitude • Media • Cultural Awareness • Healthy Relationships 


 
Sankofa | Boys Rites of Passage
Sankofa teaches that we must look to the past to understand the present and build a better future.
Saturdays, 1-3 p.m. | September–December 
Registration: $42 | Limited enrollment | Application and parent orientation required.

A Rites of Passage in African-American communities is a sacred ceremony that marks the transition of an individual’s path. “These rites are critical to individual and community development, and it should not be taken for granted that youth automatically develop into responsible, community-oriented adults.” ~ David Blumenkrantz. This journey towards manhood uses the philosophy and principles of Kwanzaa.


Some of the workshop topics include: • Attitude • Conflict Resolution • Cultural Awareness • Decision Making • Grooming • Hygiene • Image Portrayal • Personal Safety

Women's History Celebration

The West Las Vegas Arts Center’s annual Women’s History Month Celebration focuses on discussions to educate and empower Black/African ancestry and women of color through a day filled with connection and community. 

Rentals

The West Las Vegas Arts Center has a variety of spaces available for rent. These spaces range from $35 - $100/hour. Cost not inclusive of staff, security, equipment or cleaning. To find out more about renting this location, call the center at 702-229-4800. Rental availability is released by the fiscal year, so dates are available through June 30, 2027.
