Due to cases of COVID-19 being reported among participants and staff members of a youth camp at the Veterans Memorial Community Center, the center will be closed until Monday, July 5, for cleaning and disinfecting. As of July 1, six youth camp participants and two city staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. Two other staff members and four other youth participants experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 have been sent home and advised to seek testing for the coronavirus. Moving forward, the city is instituting temperature checks and health screenings prior to entering all youth camps at city facilities. Those with a fever or those who answer “yes” to any of the screening questions will be sent home. The requirement for children under 12 to wear a mask will continue. Staff members have been required to wear a mask, which will continue.
To prevent the continued spread of COVID-19, the city encourages all those over the age of 12 to be vaccinated.
